The original Umayyad Caliphate did not encourage Jews or Christians to convert as this would lower tax revenues. As for Saladin, yes Christians were expelled from Jerusalem in 1187, most of their housing stock was given/sold to Jews who moved in alongside their Muslim allies. This may not jive with today’s narrative, but it is a historical fact nonetheless.
